After spending 3 days in the Dover Air Force Base terminal, we finally walked on board a brand new C-17 heading to Spangdahlem, Germany.
(No pictures are allowed on the flight line, so this stock photo will have to do.)
By the time our flight took off at 9 p.m., we were extremely tired
and oh-so-stinking-EXCITED to be on our way!
The cargo wasn't too shabby, either--a bunch of humvees.
May I just say that it was the most fantastic plane flight ever? We rolled out a sleeping bag underneath a humvee and slept for the entire 8.5-hour flight. Minus the time I got up to go to the bathroom and took this picture of Matt, of course:
Pretty cool, no?

And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we woke up in Germany.
wow that is so neat! I had no idea people could do that. Perks of the Air Force I guess. That really sucks you had to wait SO LONG to get on a plane but when else in life could you sleep under a Humvee, safe from enemy fire? hehe. Cool pix!
ReplyDeletei absolutely love the way you write!! so entertaining and witty! i had no idea you were so talented! keep it up! sounds like you guys are having an exciting time!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I LOVE the sleeping arrangements! How awesome is that!
ReplyDeleteThis almost seems like what would happen in a movie! To crazy!! love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch cool pictures! That is the way to fly! Forget first class, give me a sleeping bag under a humvee. SWEET! Can't wait for your next post.
ReplyDeleteHoneymoons are the best!!!
ReplyDeleteum i don't think i could sleep under a vehicle...props to you guys!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even thought of that! It sounds extremely claustrophobic, doesn't it? But it was brand new (clean), well off the ground, and we kept our heads out, so we mostly just liked the space to stretch out :-)
ReplyDeleteSleeping would certainly make the flight go by faster! What a fun adventure!
ReplyDeleteThat looks Sweet!!!!
