Riding tandem

Jake's first bike ride? Check.
Quaint towns like Avalon basically beg for bike rides, and we were happy to oblige. Jakey was a bit unsure about the whole helmet thing at first, but he warmed up to the bike ride once we got going (and then cooled right off every time the helmet would slide down onto his face. You can hardly blame him). Matt took Jake for a ride in a baby seat, Talon and Carolyn shared a tandem bike, and I merrily tagged along on my cute little beach cruiser. We went on a pretty ride from Lover's Cove to the famous casino and through plenty of adorable streets in between. Then, before turning in the bikes, we took turns with Talon and Carolyn's rental. Tandem bikes are clearly a good time.

Catalina

We spent the most lovely weekend on Catalina Island earlier this month. Our friends Talon and Carolyn joined us for a couple days of beaching, snorkeling, parasailing, swimming, biking, lounging, sightseeing, playing, chasing birds (okay, that was just Jake), and all sorts of goodness. It was so needed and so wonderful. Here's a little glimpse:

Catalina was sort of like an American version of Capri. We kept wanting to go to the Blue Grotto...

Jakey was so excited to be there!

Another day at Disney

I was spoiled and got to have Carolyn and Emery visit for a whole twelve (!) days at the beginning of the month. Needless to say, it was a party. Carolyn came to town just in time to babysit Jake while Matt and I went to the Coldplay concert and a few days later, we all went to the Happiest Place on Earth. Then Talon joined us the next week for a little trip to Catalina Island. Oh, it was so much fun! But first, Disneyland.

Carolyn and I have been talking about taking our babies to Disneyland together for months and we were glad it finally happened. I'm fully aware that this sounds ridiculous, but Disneyland is honestly one of my favorite places ever and I love sharing it with people I love. It's just so happy, you know? Plus, having Carolyn there meant that we got to use the baby swap and actually go on some big kid rides! It was such a great day.
