Thanksgiving

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving! We enjoyed a lovely holiday dinner with a few cousins at my aunt Kim's house. The food was delicious and the company was even better. I'm really lucky to have such an amazing extended family!

We are so blessed in so many ways, and it's nice to take a day to reflect on everything we are grateful for. Most of all, I am thankful for my handsome, hardworking husband and our happy baby boy, our wonderful families, and the gospel that brings so much peace and joy to our lives. I'm also very grateful for our house that is almost completed and for the normalcy that will finally resume in that home in a couple weeks.
And right now, as I type this on my brand-new laptop, I'm thankful that my technological nightmares (namely, two broken hard drives, a broken laptop, and a semi-broken DSLR) and nearly two months of computer-less-ness are coming to an end. Perhaps I will embrace the modern world again at last.

  1. So were you able to recover all of your pictures? You've never said one way or the other. I hope you were able to!! Jake is adorable! I bet you can't wait to get back to some normalcy, but I'm sure you're loving spending so much time with family right now!

  2. You're so sweet to ask!

Unfortunately, two different IT pros and one data recovery company all informed us that our data is unrecoverable. We lost half of our pictures from 2010, a couple months from 2011, a couple months from 2012, half of the pictures and all of the videos from our summer vacation, and about 80% of our videos of Jake. Thankfully, this blog has at least low-resolution versions of almost all of our favorite pictures from the months we lost, but I'm still so sad about the videos we lost of Jake. We might try another data recovery company in the future, just in case, but we don't have any expectations.

All that said, it is definitely a party at my family's house! I don't know how they'll be able to function without Jake in a couple weeks.
