Jake's 1st birthday party was the happiest of days! I decided on a theme reflecting two of Jake's favorite things -- milk & cookies. And then I maybe went a little overboard. But it was all so much fun!
The best part was getting to have my entire family there. Jordan and Nicole came to town for the weekend, and April flew back from Korea that afternoon which meant we also got to have Alex and Tasha at the party. And, because my cousins are awesome, they came to play, too. My sister Heidi helped a ton, which is maybe why her's is the first name Jake learned after "Dada" and "Mama."Jakey was super happy the entire day, as usual, and he loved all of the attention. That sweet boy was absolutely beaming when we sang "Happy Birthday!" Of course, the party was a few days before his actual birthday, so we saved the cake and made a little cookie-cake instead. It all turned out so well and we were thrilled we got to celebrate Jake's big day with so many people that we love.
The invitation! This picture of Jake kills me. We were in the middle of the move, so we went with a postcard company that printed and mailed them for us and it worked perfectly. Speaking of perfect, the quote on hte back: "Think... what a better place the world would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies & milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap." Doesn't that sound heavenly? I smile just thinking about it. Now, onto the details and the day:
My sweet Grandma made it to the party:
My Aunt Sydna brought her old "Milk and Cookies" book, which Krysta then read to Jakey. So sweet.
Time for the homemade chocolate chip cookie pinata! My cousin Camille got a big hit on the cookie,
and then we let Jake finish it off.
and then we let Jake finish it off.
Singing to the birthday boy:
And then he washed it all down with a sippy.
Happy day, baby boy!
