Zurich, Switzerland: Lights on the water

We were on a bit of a tight schedule in Switzerland (can you say expensive one-day one-way car rental?) but decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least peak at Zurich. So, we stopped on our way from Bern to Rebstein and spent the night in a fabulous hotel in the city. And who cares that we pulled in at 11 o'clock at night? We hit downtown anyway, and immediately lamented the fact that we couldn't stay just a few more days! I mean, do you see this?
The Limmat River runs through Zurich, which is divided into 12 districts. We spent the bulk of our super short visit in the "old town" district of the city, called Altstadt.
Accompanying the unique historic buildings in the area are streets filled with high-end shopping. It's probably better to see those stores at night anyway since window shopping is a lot healthier for your wallet--especially while in the third most expensive city in Europe!
Still, it was almost painful leaving such an intriguing city without getting to know her first. Someday maybe we'll pony up the 40 Euro toll road fee again and jaunt on over to really check her out... right, Matt?
I'd even get you a cooler rental car.
Maybe.

  1. That must have been hard leaving when you were only there for a short time. How exciting though! It must have been so fun!
