After seeing Chicago from a bird's eye view and in the reflection of a giant bean, we set out to see it on foot.
It was lunchtime, so we headed to the Navy Pier for Chicago-style hot dogs. Mustard, tomatoes, pickles, relish, peppers... you know, the usual.
We took our time walking around the pier and enjoying the views of Lake Michigan and the city. You have to remind yourself a million times that it's a lake and not an ocean. So pretty!
And then it was onto the Magnificent Mile of pretty stores and malls.
(Window shopping only, Heidi, I swear!)
We were so excited when it was finally an acceptable hour for dinner--we'd been craving Chicago-style pizza all day! Shaun & Amber's wonderful friends recommended a local favorite, Giordano's. As you can see, it's pretty popular--and for good reason!
You would think we'd be stuffed after all of that yummy pizza, but people, there is always room for dessert.
(And to Shaun & Amber--miss you already!)

Your trip looks like it was so much fun. Seriously I want to go to Chicago now. I never knew it was such an awesome city! And, this post made me extremely hungry. There's a pizzeria in Sandy called Sweet Home Chicago and the owner is from Chicago and they serve stuffed pizza there and it is AMAZING!!! Nothing like that in NYC. Loved your post! I'm craving. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the birthday wishes. Maybe we will see you in Cedar next week! (Oh and I knew you meant Heaps, not Hatches. hehe.)
Ashley, I'm so happy you found my blog so now I can look at yours! It looks like you had a fun trip. I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteChicago is my favorite city. Curt, Krysta and I had a good time there a few years ago when all the Grafs traveled to Nauvoo. I loved the museums also.
ReplyDeleteOH my gosh! You just made me so hungry with those pictures of Giordanos! I can't eat pizza anymore because I want their pizza. It's amazing isn't it? Your really making me want to go back there with all of these pictures. Next time you go, you should go over the 4th of July. They do a thing called "taste of Chicago" that is absolutly amazing because you get the best food for super cheap. Oh and you really should go to a cubs game! SO SO SO fun!
