Matt competed in his second sprint triathlon at Point Mugu on June 23. The Admiral's Cup is held every year right before the U.S. Armed Forces Triathlon Championship at Naval Base Ventura County, which is about a half hour north of Malibu. Needless to say, it is a gorgeous course!
The race consists of a 400M ocean(!) swim, 20K bike ride, and 5K run. Matt did a great job! (And he wasn't eaten by a shark, so that's a win.) He was in the first wave of swimmers, improved on his previous bike time (I'm excited for him to kill it on his next race now that he has a bike that fits), and finished with a solid 3.1. We're hoping to make it back next year, and the next, and the next...

The mass beach start into the ocean is crazy. |

Matt and Shawn had fun checking out all the pro's gear. |

With Shawn, Whit and our babies! Their little Bryson was only 12 days old for this race. |
With Matt's tri complete, we packed our bags and headed up the PCH for the best road trip ever! Pt. Mugu to Santa Barbara to Solvang to San Simeon to Big Sur to Carmel to Monterey to San Francisco in 9 days. It was even more amazing than it sounds, and I can't wait to blog about it... someday. Ha. Real-time real life resuming in the next post :)
how fun! I think it's so neat that he does triathlons.
ReplyDeleteThose are some awesome action shots you captured! I can see my husband wanting to do something like this someday.
