We kicked off our Easter weekend festivities with a Rabbit Run 5K and egg hunt on base. It was Jake's first race and therefore kind of a big deal. Actually, I guess it was our baby girl's first race, too -- I'm 26 weeks along, starting to show, and getting so excited for her arrival! I was expecting a simple little course around base, but it turned out to be a hilly 3.4-mile route that gave my calves a good little workout. We ran the first 2.5 miles together and then let Matt run ahead to take third in the predicted time contest. He won a stocked Easter basket and everything. We didn't stick around to pick it up, though, because we had to hurry over to the baby egg hunt!
The Hill egg hunts are crazy crowded, but luckily they split it up into age groups on different fields so we didn't have to worry about our little 1-year-old getting trampled over a plastic egg. We met up with some new friends who have a little girl about Jake's age and navigated through the maze of people to the baby field. The Easter Bunny signaled the start and the babies were off! Jake gathered his little collection of eggs and walked around proudly with his basket. Then his daddy opened an egg and gave him the candy, and that took the excitement to a whole new level. Of course, it wasn't long before the sugar high ended and the cuddling began, so we headed home and topped off the fun with a good old fashioned family nap. It was the best kind of Saturday morning.

How fun! Jake is such a cutie- I just love all of his expressions! And all of your pictures make me really miss Hill. The duck pond was one of my favorite spots for a run! :)
