The sky was falling

Ever wondered what Mashley looks like at 2 a.m.? Well this is your lucky day, folks. Last night I convinced Matt to stay up late so we could catch part of the Perseid meteor shower. We didn't know quite what to do with ourselves during those weird should-be-sleeping hours, so we watched Brian Regan to pass the time. When the clock finally struck one, we grabbed a blanket and headed out to a place far away from any street lights.

The weather was perfectly clear and it felt like we could see every star in the entire galaxy. Within the first minute, we saw our first big meteor streak across the sky, leaving a long golden trail behind. It was beautiful, and it was only the beginning. For the next forty-five minutes, we sat in a trance as the meteors danced through the stars above. First here, then there, and then over there without any real intermission. If we didn't know any better, we might have thought the sky was falling. Since we do know better, Matt and I lied there and talked about the wonder of God's creations.

And made lots of wishes on stars.
In my book, that beats sleep any day (or night).

  4. We were in the meadow on the way to Stewart falls last night and it was amazing how many were still streaking across the sky. It really is magical and especially when you listen to inspirational music while you take it all in!

  6. We were in the mountains. How in the world did we miss it? Since I don't sleep well in a tent, I could easily have popped by head out to look and not missed any sleep. Maybe next time.

  7. You both are disgustingly attractive at 2 am. =)

I wanted to see the meteor shower too but I KNOW FOR A FACT that I can no longer stay up that late. I'm an old woman who needs her rest. =)
