Good Things to Come

The first time I saw this video, my eyes filled up with tears of gratitude to my Heavenly Father. It was exactly what I needed to hear right then; something that I already knew but needed to be reminded of. Life is never perfect. At times, it can be rather discouraging or even just downright hard. But it's so important to never lose faith and to remember the message found in Romans 8:28: "All things work together for good to them that love God."

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's message of courage, hope and faith is so uplifting that I've watched it many times since. After watching it yet again this morning, I decided it was about time I share. Although Elder Holland is a leader of our church, this message is applicable to members of any religion. If you have a few spare minutes this Sunday, please watch it. I promise it will brighten your day.

I especially love Elder Holland's words of encouragement at the end:

"Don't you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead. Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven. But for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.
It will be all right in the end.

"Trust God and believe in good things to come."

  2. I love Elder Holland and I have watched this many times also. I so relate to this and think we have all found ourselves not where we really want to be. I realize now at my age, that we are always right where we are supposed to be for our best good!!
I remember when he gave this talk and I pictured the very road he was on!! Thanks for a great Sunday activity.

  3. yes, I have also watched this many many times. Hey, just a fun bit to share with you: Jay auditioned to be the part of the mechanic in this. He didn't get the part...but he had such a fun experience trying out for it. Jay is in the process of growing a burly beard because he spontaneously sent his picture in to be an extra for the "Legacy" movie piece that they are going to be doing in september/october. fun. The church does such a great job with these mormon messages huh. I always feel the spirit when I watch and listen to them.

  4. I have referred back to this talk frequently this past year, and was so glad to see this video along with it! It makes me cry too, but at least we can take comfort in a loving Heavenly Father who will not keep blessings from the righteous, whether in this life or the next. Life is a test, it will be hard, but with our Savior and his atonement we can not fail. We must simply press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, cheerfully doing all that lies in our power (D&C 123 vs. 17). As we pray and seek his will, we can feel peace and assurance that we will be delivered. (Alma 58: 11).
