Whirlwind weekend in San Diego

Vacations are so not good for my home. As I type this in my family room, I'm surrounded by luggage and purses and shoes and bags and dirty laundry and pillows and all of that fun stuff that I should really take care of instead of blogging. So in the interest of being productive with my time (and getting my house together since we have guests this weekend), I'm going to give you a quick recap of our amazing San Diego vacation with my family.

But don't worry--I'll be back almost every day this week to give you the full details on every activity. That's right, kids. A post almost every day! I'm hoping that'll give me the kick in the bum I need to go through the 1,000+ pictures we took last weekend. I have a headache just thinking about it! (Disclaimer: More than half of those were of the Nicole and Jordan's big event seen below. I'm not really that crazy.) Here's what's coming up on the blog:

*Sea World
You're never too old to love Shamu.

*Belmont Park and the Beach
Everything is more fun with my babies around!

*A Perfect Proposal
Coley and Jordan are engaged! They have now officially begun the second-longest Mormon engagement ever and we are all so, so excited for them! The happy couple was alone in a little cove for the surprise proposal (well, plus the photographer, me and Christian far away capturing the moment with
super zoom lenses
), but they were nice enough to let their families join in for a big celebration about 45-minutes later.

*The Mormon Battalion in Old San Diego
Give the babies guns and gold and they'll love you forever.

*USS Midway
Had Air Force not beat Navy this year, we may not have been so excited about this activity.

*Falcon Football
Speaking of Air Force, we got to see them play in person for the first time this season at Qualcomm Stadium.

*And a slumber party for the record books
My family + Jordan's family (our California family) = BFFs.

I hope you had a great weekend, too!

  5. Can't wait to see all the pics we took, it will make the vacation seem more real! I'm excited for the recaps; especially of our epic sleep over; the laughs still keep coming! Love you sis!

  6. Amber- No, don't say that! Haha, we were a little worried that we were bad luck, too. But then we thought about all the millions of AF games we've been to that they've won, and remembered that they lost at OU without us, and realized we must be okay. Phew! And PS-We miss you, too!

Stace- That would be June 5, 2012 :-) Jordan's a cadet at the Air Force Academy (we set them up) and doesn't graduate until May 30, 2012, so they have a long, fun road ahead of them! Their engagement will be just a month or so shorter than ours was.

  7. Hooray for colie cole and Jordan of course! We spent Sunday with a bunch of Elders from the Toronto East Mission and they were so excited to find out about Elder Rosa getting engaged. With all those on lookers, did Nicole ever suspect something was up? And all dressed up on the beach? I can't wait to hear all the details. This is a match made in heaven!

  8. Sharla- How fun to have the Elders over! I don't want to share too many details since I want Nicole to get to tell her story, but to answer your questions: the beach was almost deserted, Jordan was "in Colorado," Jordan's family was hiding much further down the beach, and our family was dressed up because we "were just stopping at the beach to see the sunset on our way to the temple." So Nicole had no idea!

  11. I am so happy to hear about the engagement, and can't wait to see the photos! And I'm excited about all the different activities - we were in San Diego that same weekend, and, well, we didn't do nearly as much fun stuff! Next time though! I always end up checking your blog for ideas of things to do!
